2011-2012 Season

Manatee Kids Wrestling is one of the premier youth wrestling programs in Florida, and the dominant wrestling program in Manatee & Sarasota Counties.  As a club, we are 5-time Florida AAU Defending State Champions and our wrestlers have competed and won at all levels.  Last season our wrestlers won 7 State Champion titles, 11 All-American titles, and 4 National Champion titles.  Wrestling is a unique sport that rewards and teaches dedication, tenacity and persistence to young athletes.

Coaching:

Probably the most important aspect of any youth sport program is the instruction that they will receive from their coaches.  All Manatee coaches are certified with AAU, NHSCA or USA Wrestling and most with all three wrestling organizations.  Our coaches attend clinics throughout the year with their wrestlers to learn basic and advance techniques.  The majority of our coaches return from last season along with a mix of new coaches who will bring solid experience at the high school, collegiate and even international levels.

Practice:

We practice Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm.  Wednesday evening will be considered the advanced practice and will be at a pace and level that is geared for experienced and more mature wrestlers.  All practices will take place in at Manatee High School in the Wrestling Room/Gymnasium

Ages:

Kindergarten through 8^th grade.  Competition is usually against a wrestler within 1 year of each wrestler’s age and within 10% of their weight.

Competition:

We compete in tournaments that are held on weekends.  They are usually all-day events; however, we do not compete every weekend.  The number of tournaments that you attend is up to you and your wrestler.

Length of Season:

Practice begins on Tuesday, November 1^st, 2011.  The season runs until the end of January though many wrestlers compete into March and the “freaks” will continue on through May/June.  Breaks are taken during holidays.  There will be opportunities late in the season to compete nationally if your wrestler is qualified.

Registration Fee:  $125 with t shirt only / $200 includes singlet and shorts

The registration fee includes your wrestlers' membership in the club, certification in (2) different organizations (AAU Wrestling, and NHSCA Wrestling) and the ability to compete in all organizations.  It also includes entry fee into (2) tournaments hosted by Manatee Wrestling including the AAU State Championship, a club t-shirt, participation in the team party at the end of the season, and any awards given to the wrestlers at the end of the season.  Payment plans can be considered for those who require it.
